Few people can claim to have stayed the night on a small island located in the waters of the Solent, enjoying views of the Portsmouth coast and the Isle of Wight. Even fewer have enjoyed a business event, launch or team building day at sea.
The Solent Forts are unique man-made structures, first put in place in the 19th century to protect the country from possible French invasion. These days, the forts are two island hotels – No Man’s Fort and Spitbank Fort – that provide inspiration to both holidaymakers looking for a unique break and businesses aiming to put on an event like no other.
No Man’s Fort is the larger of the two, with a mess hall that can cater for up to 200 delegates. Function rooms are fitted with the very latest AV equipment and all events come with a dedicated team to ensure your wedding, party or conference goes ahead without a hitch. Spitbank Fort is awash with character and style – just like No Man’s Fort, only more intimate. The unique interior and quirky surroundings will help delegates’ creativity, hard work and ideas flow. Again, all function rooms are fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and can accommodate parties of varying sizes.
Delegates who stay the night are welcome to toast their hard day’s work on the top deck at sunset before retreating to the mess hall for dinner and a peaceful night’s rest in one of the luxurious bedrooms or suites. Windows look out onto the Solent, with top decks providing unrivalled sea views and bedrooms showcasing original features that provide a stylish, nautical atmosphere.
An array of entertainment is also available on both forts, from wine and rum tasting, wine caves and RIB rides, to top-deck fire pits and hot tubs. No Man’s Fort is also home to a laser arena – perfect for burning off some steam after a long day’s brainstorming.
