The Deck is closed for the installation of a brand new, contemporary rooftop venue at the National Theatre designed by Haworth Tompkins Associates
The new space will open in Summer 2018 and replace our current venue, The Deck, and is being developed to cater for the growing demand for events, private parties and weddings on the South Bank. All of the revenue generated by the new event space will support the work of the National Theatre.
During this refurbishment we will not be able to host events in our dedicated events venue, however, if you would like to book one of our meeting rooms at the National Theatre please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The Deck is a stunning exclusive venue situated on the rooftop of the iconic National Theatre, with incredible views overlooking the South Bank and the river Thames. Part of the London skyline’s unique glow, it has fantastic transport links only five minutes from Waterloo.
The Deck has been designed to make the most of its fabulous vantage point; it has a distinct inside-outside feel, with large retractable glass doors that allow natural daylight to flood in and open out to the decked terrace in warmer weather.
The fresh, modern architecture of The Deck makes it a great blank canvas for any event. The sophisticated lighting system can be used for a variety of effects, ranging from basic task-lighting to more dramatic or intimate evening atmospheres.
The terrace of The Deck is one of the most enjoyable elements of the space, allowing guests to mingle and enjoy spectacular views of St Paul’s Cathedral, OXO Tower and Somerset House. With state-of-the-art sound and visual technology, The Deck is also an inspiring backdrop for meetings, away days and product launches, seating 100 theatre style.
The National Theatre takes pride in being the sole caterer for all events held at The Deck, offering exciting and inspired seasonal menus designed by the executive head chef Simon Flint.
