Situated on the bank of the Thames, Hampton Court Palace has over 1,000 rooms, containing over 1,000 artworks. Formerly Henry VIII’s flamboyant ‘pleasure palace’, it has always been centre of hospitality and entertainment. In 1628, the king spent today’s equivalent of £18,000,000 restoring and expanding it, and all six of Henry’s wives came to visit.
The awe-inspiring Tudor palace is blessed with hammer beam ceilings dressed in gold leaf and the famous Abraham tapestries. In the late 1600s, King William III commissioned Sir Christopher Wren to transform the east and south façades with grand Baroque exteriors, which dominate the formal gardens today.
The magnificent staterooms are a regal backdrop for prestigious receptions, banquets, conferences, events, performances, corporate functions or weddings. Receptions and dinners can be held in the Main Palace, while dances take place in the Garden Room or in specially erected marquees. Majestic outdoor events are held in the 60 acres of gardens and parklands, including three grand courtyards and an 18-hole golf course. Guided tours of the grounds can be arranged at sunrise or with brunch; ghost tours are also popular. For a truly spectacular event, Hampton Court Palace can also be exclusively hired.
Their carefully selected caterers and suppliers have all the finest elements to perfect your event, from food and wine to private boat hire. Whether you choose William III’s pretty Orangery or the dramatic Palladian style Banqueting House, your venue is guaranteed to suit the mood of your event.
