An urban beach with a twist, the largest ever poetry festival and the chance to work with and learn from the world’s leading artists – this festival has it all. 

Festival of the World, 1 June to 9 September, is inspired by the cultural vision of Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic movement. As London celebrates the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, Southbank Centre will be transformed into an international artistic hub, hosting artists from every competing Olympic nation.

Hundreds of international artists will converge on Southbank Centre’s 21-acre riverside site next summer for its Festival of the World (with MasterCard). Highlights of the festival include Africa Utopia led by Baaba Mal, Poetry Parnassus led by Simon Armitage and the triumphant return of Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra.

The site will be at its most vibrant with installations around every corner, including the reopening of the Queen Elizabeth Hall roof garden, an urban beach with a twist and the return of the E4 Udderbelly.
