Exciting Developments At RSA House

Tuesday 7th February 2012

With more than 150 events a year, RSA House is one of the most exciting venues in the country...

Weddings will enjoy top billing at RSA House, home to The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), as part of new catering partner Harbour & Jones’ plans to design a unique events offer which will capture the Georgian charm of the enlightenment organisation’s Grade I listed building, on John Adam Street near The Strand in London.

RSA House has appointed Harbour & Jones as its catering partner in a move to steer the site to compete more fiercely in the London venue market. The partnership will begin on 6th February 2012. This strategic decision comes before the curtains are lifted on a grand renovation project within the House, overseen by Matthew Lloyd architects, which will recreate the original Adam brothers’ architecture in a contemporary way, to produce fresh, clean, beautiful spaces while restoring the building’s Georgian purity and splendour.

Due for completion at the end of June, but with some public rooms set to re-open in April, the refurbishment will amplify the original 18th Century appearance of the buildings complete with new and improved high-tech facilities for visitors. These will include the ability to relay events from and to the Great Room, creating real-time links with Fellows and public audiences in the UK and internationally – a function designed to enable more visitors to benefit from the RSA’s free annual events programme, which, with more than 150 events a year, is one of the most exciting in the country.
