The Exchange - Newlyn Art Gallery

Cornwall

One of the most distinctive and memorable spaces in Cornwall...

The Exchange gallery in Penzance is one of the most distinctive and memorable spaces in Cornwall: a former telephone exchange, redeveloped in 2007, and now housing the leading contemporary art space in the South West of England.

Cornwall itself is a unique mixture of the ancient and historic and the contemporary and cosmopolitan. Long as magnet for artists, it now also boasts a thriving surf scene, festivals galore including the outstanding Port Eliot Literary festival, attractions like the world famous Eden Project which every summer hosts the Eden Sessions, outstanding restaurants and pubs, not to mention world-class sailing and watersports. The Cornish people have long been renowned for their relaxed, friendly demeanour and their warm welcome for visitors.

The Exchange has a beautifully refurbished interior, infinitely flexible spaces, high ceilings, white walls, ample natural light and sensory night illumination of the austere glass frontage commissioned from artist Peter Freeman. All this, plus the availability of full catering make The Exchange an amazing venue for any event.
