With a combined total of 3,500 sq. ft of event space across 2 floors, the building offers a stunning and versatile space to host a range of events, from canapé receptions to product launches and private dinners.

Excellent Transport Links

Calvert 22 is well served by public transport, including London Underground stations Shoreditch High Street, Old Street, Liverpool Street (all under 10 minutes walk), plus an extensive local bus network.

The gallery is just 25 minutes drive to London City airport, with major European links and to Kings Cross St Pancras, with routes to Paris and Brussels.

Facilities and Equipment

The gallery can provide a range of equipment. Wi-Fi is available and experienced technicians from ADi Audiovisual, our technical partner, can ensure events run seamlessly according to client specifications (subject to additional charges).

There is a professional kitchen for catering companies to use, cloakroom area, 2 bathrooms, private car parking for up to 4 vehicles and a ventilation and heating system.

Suppliers

Calvert 22 has a suggested list of suppliers for all occasions from caterers to florists; alternatively you are welcome to use your own preferred suppliers. Whatever your needs, we are confident we can supply you with the facilities you require to make your event successful, unique and unforgettable. Please ask the events team for further details.

Registered Charity

Calvert 22 is a registered charity and all profits from venue hire go directly towards supporting the Exhibition and Event programme.

Background to Calvert 22

Calvert 22 is the UK’s only not-for-profit foundation dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art and culture from Russia, CIS countries and Eastern Europe and presents a dynamic programme of exhibitions, talks and cross-disciplinary events.

Calvert 22 has subsequently achieved widespread critical and public acclaim. Its mission is to create a unique platform, through imaginative and active presentations, for the very best in current art and culture from the former ‘Eastern Bloc’, whilst being a catalyst for new possibilities of cross-cultural understanding and exchange.

Calvert 22 supports both emergent and more established artists and aims to further illuminate their practice and context through original publications, related talks and events. In addition, Calvert 22 hosts a range of activities that provoke a re-thinking of cultural stereotypes and is a central resource for the study and research of contemporary art and culture from across this rapidly changing and complex geographical arena.

The Spaces

Both floors

This is optimum choice for entertaining as our exhibitions are held across both floors, giving you an inspiring venue and opportunity to enjoy the exhibition in full context.

They recognise, however, that clients may prefer a more intimate space (e.g. film screening) and therefore also offer separate hire of the Upstairs and Downstairs spaces for events. This works particularly well when the gallery is not showing an exhibition.

Capacity: 300 standing/200 seated dinner (depending on the exhibition installation and split across both levels).

Upstairs

The upstairs gallery has central columns, quality hardwood floors, natural light as well as an impressive ERCO lighting system, which makes this a stunning space for entertaining clients, colleagues or friends.

Size: 215 sq m, 2314 sq ft.

Capacity: 200 standing/ 100 seated dinner (depending on the exhibition installation)

Availability: all day on Mondays and Tuesdays. Evenings are available every day. All dates subject to availability.

Downstairs

The downstairs gallery has central columns, quality hardwood floors, and an impressive ERCO lighting system, which makes this a stunning space for impressing clients, friends or colleagues.

Capacity: 100 standing/30 seated dinner (depending on the exhibition installation)

Availability: all day on Mondays and Tuesdays. Evenings are available every day. All dates subject to availability.
